25 de jun. de 2018 · With the ear of the King, Struensee first appointed himself to the Privy Council before dismantling it in favour of a Cabinet in his control, supported by his ally Enevold Brandt. The increasing incapacity of the King gave Struensee the authority to pursue an Enlightenment agenda, which he did by issuing nearly 2000 decrees in his 16 months in power.

16 de feb. de 2011 · BRANDT, bränt, Enevold, Count (1738-72).A Danish courtier. He was born in Copenhagen, and studied law at the university of that city. He became assistant judge of the Supreme Court of Copenhagen in 1764, Koyal Chamberlain in 1769, and afterwards superintendent of the Royal Theatre.

Efter en skueproces, som sandsynligvis omfattede tortur, blev Struensee og hans nærmeste samarbejdspartner Enevold Brandt henrettet ved halshugning på Øster Fælled 28. april 1772. Man ville også gerne have henrettet Caroline Mathilde, men da hendes broder - den engelske konge George 3. - raslede med sablen, blev hun i stedet deporteret til slottet i Celle uden sine børn.
