Duchess Helene of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (16 January 1857 - 28 August 1936) was a daughter of Duke Georg August of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and his wife Grand Duchess Catherine Mikhailovna of Russia. She was the second wife of Prince Albert of Saxe-Altenburg.

Archduchess Charlotte would spend her married life in Sigmaringen with her husband at his home the Prinzessinnen-Palais which they shared with Duke Georg’s youngest child Duke Carl Gregor, the two elder two children Duke Georg Alexander and Duchess Helene both already being married.
As the only daughter of Grand Duchess Catherine (herself the principal heiress to her father Grand Duke Michael), Helene was quite notably wealthy. [3] She belonged to the Russian branch of the Mecklenburg-Strelitz family, [3] and as such, had many ties to her mother's native country.
Duchess Marie’s child is believed to have been born in November 1897 in Paris and christened Paul Andree, going on to be initially cared for by a French couple before Duchess Marie’s cousin from the Russian branch of the family, Duchess Helene, arranged for a Russian family to adopt him at the turn of the century who in turn renamed him.
