27 de abr. de 2022 · ERICH von Pommern, son of WARTISLAW IX Duke of Pomerania & his wife Sophie von Sachsen-Lauenburg ( [1418/25]-Wolgast 5 Jul 1474). He succeeded his father in 1457 as ERICH II Duke of Pomerania in Wolgast.
When Duke Wartislaw IX of Pomerania-Wolgast died in 1457, his will named not only his sons Eric II and Wartislaw X, Otto's stepfather, as heir, but also young Otto III. An inheritance dispute arose, is which Frederick II supported Otto, and also used the opportunity to meddle in the affairs of Pomerania.
Eric II or Erich II (between 1418 and 1425 – 5 July 1474) was a member of the House of Pomerania (also known as the Griffins) and was the ruling Duke of Pomerania-Wolgast from 1457 to 1474. He was the son of Wartislaw IX of Pomerania-Wolgast and Sophia, daughter of Eric IV of Saxe-Lauenburg .
After the death of son Wartislaw IV's son Barnim IV, Duke of Pomerania in 1365, Pomerania-Barth was divided in 1372 under the Treaty of Anklam. The Eastern part, between the rivers Swine and Łeba, was called Pomerania-Stolp and was initially ruled by Duke Bogislaw V and the Western duchies of Pomerania-Barth, initially ruled by Duke Wartislaw VI and Pomerania-Wolgast, ruled by Duke Bogislaw ...
Bogusław and his younger brother Casimir were sons of Duke Wartislaw I of Pomerania, the progenitor of the Griffin dynasty, probably from his second marriage with the Danish princess Ida. Minors upon their father's violent death, both first had to cede the rule to their uncle Ratibor. After Duke Ratibor died in 1156, his nephews Bogusław and Casimir ruled the Duchy of Pomerania jointly.
