William Douglas Parish. William Douglas Parish (16 December 1833–23 September 1904) was a British clergyman, antiquarian, and author on dialects. Parish was born in 1833 at St. Marylebone, one of the thirteen children of Sir Woodbine Parish, a British diplomat. He was the youngest son of his father's first marriage to Amelia Morse.
This led to him becoming Composer in Residence at Charterhouse School (1990–1997). Leaving teaching in 1997 to pursue his career as a composer, he wrote his first film score in 2002 for The Incredible Mrs Ritchie, directed by Paul Johansson. His debut album Blue in Blue, a collection of choral and orchestral pieces, was released in 2004.

The London Charterhouse is a historic complex of buildings in Farringdon, London, dating back to the 14th century. It occupies land to the north of Charterhouse Square, and lies within the London Borough of Islington. It was originally built (and takes its name from) a Carthusian priory, founded in 1371 on the site of a Black Death burial ground.
