Hyrum Smith (* 9. Februar 1800; † 27. Juni 1844) war ein amerikanischer Kirchenführer in der Kirche Christi. Er war der ältere Bruder des Gründers des Mormonentums, Joseph Smith. Er wurde zusammen mit seinem Bruder ermordet, als sie beide auf eine Gerichtsverhandlung warteten.

David married Clara Charlotte Hartshorn on May 15, 1870 and they had one child, Elbert Aoriul Smith. David was mentally ill and died in an insane asylum in Elgin Kane County Illinois on August 29, 1904 after having been a patient there for 27 years.
