Proto-Georgian–Zan (also referred to as Proto-Karto-Zan) is a reconstructed language which is the common ancestor of Karto-Zan languages. It was produced from 1950 until 1964, and about 150 scientists worked on it. It was the first Georgian dictionary which had a systematic documentation for each word. Several linguists, namely, Gerhard Deeters and Georgy Klimov have also reconstructed a lower-level proto-language called Proto-Karto-Zan or Proto-Georgian-Zan, which is the ancestor of Karto-Zan languages (includes Georgian and Zan).
Syntax [ edit] Georgian is a left-branching language, in which adjectives precede nouns, possessors precede possessions, objects normally precede verbs, and postpositions are used instead of prepositions. Each postposition (whether a suffix or a separate word) requires the modified noun to be in a specific case.
Judaeo-Georgian is the only Kartvelian Jewish dialect. Its status as a distinct language from the Georgian language is the subject of some debate. With the exception of a significant number of Hebrew loanwords, the language is reportedly largely mutually intelligible with Georgian. Distribution
