The questions asked, and the answers offered, will be ones relevant to the community at large rather than a scholarly community of inquiry.

Don't look at it as a report. Don't look at it as a summation of an event. It's much more than that. It is meant to be an exploration of your topic.
History is not a formation dance in which everybody in one period marches in one direction, and then, in the next, marches off in a different direction. What has happened in the history of historical writing is that the scope, and the sophistication, of history have steadily extended.
