16 de nov. de 2023 · The Great Pagoda was the largest and most ambitious building in a 'royal circuit' of 16 structures displaying architectural styles from around the world built in the royal garden at Kew. Once completed in 1762, the 163ft tall building was so exotic that a suspicious public were unconvinced it would remain standing.
Opening times. Palace/ Royal Kitchens / Great Pagoda: Daily 11:00-16:00. Last entry/timeslot 16:00. Climbing the Pagoda requires a separate ticket, which can be booked here. Queen Charlotte's cottage: Weekends/bank holidays only: 11:30. Last entry 15:30. Please check full opening hours for closures before a visit.

In front of the palace is a sundial, which was given to Kew Gardens in 1959 to commemorate a royal visit. It was sculpted by Martin Holden and is a replica of one by Thomas Tompion , a celebrated 17th-century clockmaker, which had been sited near the surviving palace building since 1832 to mark the site of James Bradley 's observations leading to his discovery of the aberration of light .
