Age of Enlightenment had the following characteristics: During a period called the Age of Enlightenment, many European countries experienced a time of intellectual growth. However, each region had its own particular focus during this time. There were two main ways of thinking during the Enlightenment.
Main Characteristics. Classical music has a lighter, clearer texture than Baroque music and is less complex. As noted earlier, it is mainly homophonic—melody above chordal accompaniment (but counterpoint by no means is forgotten, especially later in the period).
