Ruta a pie del Barrio San Juan Moyotlan. La Plaza de San Juan, también llamada Plaza del Buen Tono en su forma actual, se puede atribuir al tabacalero y hombre de negocios francés, Ernesto Pugibet. Él, junto con Miguel Ángel de Quevedo, fue responsable de la construcción de la iglesia del Buen Tono, la cual domina el lado occidental de la plaza hoy en día.
The former monastary and church building mostly date to 1648. The former church atrium is today almost indistinguishable from the Plaza Jáuregui just across the street. The concave Wall of Peace is along Augustino Rodin street just across from the street grounds. Inside, you’ll find life-size images of the Dolorosa, Christ, and San Juan.
He, along with Miguel Angel de Quevedo, was responsible for the Buen Tono church which dominates the western side of the plaza even to this day. But the fact is, already by Pugibet’s time, at the end of the 19th century, the plaza had been a designated tianguis-marketplace since the 16th century.
