Lou Reed. Lewis Allen Reed, más conocido como Lou Reed ( Nueva York, 2 de marzo de 1942- Southampton, Nueva York, 27 de octubre de 2013), 1 fue un músico de rock, guitarrista, cantante, compositor y poeta, considerado el padre del rock alternativo, primero como líder del grupo The Velvet Underground y después en solitario.
Transformer foi produzido por David Bowie e Mick Ronson, ambos fortemente influenciados pelo trabalho de Reed com o Velvet Underground. Bowie fez referência ao Velvet Underground nas notas do encarte de seu álbum Hunky Dory, e tocava regularmente "White Light/White Heat" e "I'm Waiting for the Man" em shows.
