Der Physiker und Nobelpreisträger Wilhelm Wien war Professor an den Universitäten Aachen (1897), Gießen (1899), Würzburg (1900) und München (seit 1920). 1893 fand er als Assistent von Helmholtz das „Wienche Verschiebungsgesetz“ und veröffentlichte 1893 das (schon früher gefundene) Wienche Strahlungsgesetz.

Wilhelm Carl Werner Otto Fritz Franz Wien was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1911 "for his discoveries regarding the laws governing the radiation of heat." He held Professorships at University of Munich, University of Wurzburg, University of Giessen, and the Technical University of Aachen, and was a research assistant at University of Berlin.

Wilhelm Wien (Fischhausen, 13 gennaio 1864 – Monaco di Baviera, 30 agosto 1928) è stato un fisico tedesco. È noto soprattutto per avere derivato dall' elettromagnetismo e dalla termodinamica la legge che porta il suo nome, che lega l'intensità di emissione di radiazione elettromagnetica di un corpo nero alla sua temperatura .
