12 de may. de 2018 · I appreciate your support of my site. The first stop on our Austrian itinerar y was Gmunden, Austria, a small town between Vienna and Salzburg within the Salzkammergut region. The region is full of small towns surrounded by lakes and mountains. One of the reasons we decided to visit Gmunden was because of its location on Lake Traunsee.

Gmunden, town, north-central Austria, where the Traun River flows out of Lake Traun (Traunsee), a mountain lake. The site of Celtic and Roman settlements, Gmunden was fortified in the 12th century and chartered in the 13th. Its Baroque parish church on 13th-century foundations was consecrated in 1723, and the town hall dates from 1659.
