The Prussian architect, city planner and painter Karl Friedrich Schinkel was born as the son of a minister and a merchant's daughter in Neuruppin, Brandenburg, on March 13, 1781. He was the founder of the so-called "Schinkelschule" and had a decisive influence on Classicism in Prussia.

Karl Friedrich Schinkel, född 13 mars 1781 i Neuruppin, död den 9 oktober 1841 i Berlin, var en preussisk (tysk) arkitekt, stadsplanerare och målare, en av de tongivande för den preussiska klassicismen. Han var son till teologen Johann Christoph Schinkel och morfar till författaren Hans von Wolzogen .
