I’m so glad that I don’t feel compelled to adhere to a strict prayer rule, utter the Jesus Prayer, attend liturgy as much as possible, read scriptures and saints, fast endlessly, etc. It was interesting to me over the years why I always felt more at peace during my “lukewarm” or “backslidden” phases than the phases of steady practice.
