Succession could only be in the male line, so on Queen Victoria 's accession to the British throne, her uncle, Ernest Augustus , succeeded as King of Hanover, thus ending the personal union with Great Britain that dated to 1714.

Because Princess Victoria ruled after their elder brother’s deἀth so, he become the success of the Hanover throne. Before his rule, he served the British army and married Duchess Frederica of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, but his mother does not accept her as her daughter-in-law.
