Princess Dorothea Friederike of Brandenburg-Ansbach. Countess Charlotte of Hanau-Lichtenberg, full name: Countess Charlotte Christine Magdalene Johanna of Hanau-Lichtenberg (2 May 1700, Bouxwiller – 1 July 1726, Darmstadt) was the wife of landgrave Louis VIII of Hesse-Darmstadt .
Born in Darmstadt the eldest daughter of Prince George William of Hesse-Darmstadt, Friederike married Duke Charles of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1768. Of the couple's ten children, two daughters became queens consort, Louise marrying Frederick William III of Prussia and Frederica marrying Ernest Augustus I of Hanover.

Without a mother Friederike and her siblings were left largely under the care of their governesses Mrs von Wolzogen. In order to provide his children with a replacement mother figure Friederike’s father decided to remarry. His choice of wife was his late wife’s sister and his children’s favourite aunt, Princess Charlotte of Hesse-Darmstadt.
Princess Wilhelmina of Hesse-Kassel (25 February 1726 – 8 October 1808) was a Prussian princess, married to Prince Henry of Prussia . Wilhelmina was the daughter of Prince Maximilian of Hesse-Kassel and Friederike Charlotte of Hesse-Darmstadt, and the niece of William VIII, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel and King Frederick I of Sweden .
Friederike married Duke Charles of Mecklenburg-Strelitz on 18 September 1768 in Darmstadt. After her death, Charles married her younger sister Charlotte in 1784. Friederike died in 1782 in Hanover (where Charles was field marshal of the household brigade), three days after giving birth to her tenth child, Augusta, who lived just one day.
