Born in Elyria, Ohio. Apart from her work on the first Chic album, she has sung as backing vocalist on a lot of recordings of such artists as Randy Crawford, Will Downing, Aretha Franklin, Fantasy (2), Luther Vandross, Madonna, Sister Sledge etc. Her only studio album was produced and arranged by Bernard Edwards & Nile Rodgers in 1978. Norma Jean Wright (born in Elyria, Ohio) was the lead vocalist of the soul, R&B and disco group Chic, from 1977 to 1978. She left Chic in 1978 to begin a solo career, billed as "Norma Jean" & this album was produced &, in the main, written by Bernard Edwards & Nile Rodgers as a goodbye & thankyou.
Singer Norma Jean Wright recorded both under her own name and as Norma Jean -- not to be confused with the same-named country singer.The Elyria, OH, native first came to fame as a vocalist with Chic. Chic leaders Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards produced her debut single "Saturday" in summer 1978.
