Demetrius and the Gladiators is a sequel to The Robe, which in turn was a knockoff of Quo Vadis (the novel if not the film). Demetrius, played by Victor Mature, was a supporting character in The Robe, and now gets his starring turn. A freed slave and a Christian, he is enslaved again and forced to fight in the gladiatorial arena.
