Bygningen til Bjørknes Privatskole ble opprinnelig oppført i 1898 for frk. Rolls Pigeinstitut. Den har senere huset flere skoler: Vestheim pikeskole, Vestheim privatskole og Elisenberg skole. I 1950 leide Alice Bjørknes to rom av Vestheim Privatskole. Dette ble starten på Bjørknes Privatskole og eksamensrettet undervisning for privatister.
