John de Mowbray, 4th Baron Mowbray, was an English peer born in Epworth, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of John de Mowbray, 3rd Baron Mowbray, and Joan of Lancaster. He married Elizabeth de Segrave, 5th Baroness Segrave, and through this union, the Mowbray family gained significant estates, including Framlingham Castle in Suffolk.
Mowbray was born in 1415, the only son and heir of John de Mowbray, 2nd Duke of Norfolk, and Katherine Neville. He inherited his titles upon his father's death in 1432. As a minor he became a ward of King Henry VI and was placed under the protection of Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester , alongside whom Mowbray would later campaign in France.

Eleanor de Mowbray (d. 29 June 1387), who was married twice - first, to Roger la Warr, 3rd Baron De La Warr (1326-1370) as his third wife, before 23 July 1358; and second, to Sir Lewis de Clifford. John de Mowbray, 4th Baron Mowbray (25 June 1340 – 1368), married Elizabeth de Segrave; Joan died in Yorkshire, England of the plague.
