  4. 11 de ene. de 2024 · On 7 April 1837, the great Danish fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen penned the third and final volume of his Fairy Tales Told For Children. The whole collection included nine stories, but this third volume had just two. One was The Little Mermaid (adapted into a Disney animated film).

"Thumbelina" was one of nine fairy tales Andersen printed between 1835 and 1837 in a series of three booklets. These booklets were called Fairy Tales Told for Children. "Thumbelina" appeared in the second booklet with "The Naughty Boy" and "The Traveling Companion".

As one can see in the chronological list of fairy tale collections, the label "told for children" (fortalte for Børn) disappears after the first 6 booklets, and in 1852 came, after a series of "New fairy tales" (Nye Eventyr) and Picturebook Without Pictures, the first collection of "stories" (Historier).
