George Augustus, the eldest son, and Third Viscount after his father’s death was born in 1725 and was destined for a quick rise in the British army.

6 de may. de 2022 · Emanuel Scrope Howe is wearing the same Venetian lace jabot in both portraits; it was an expensive item of clothing he would be proud of owning. It is interesting that in the 1680’s or 90’s Grinling Gibbons carved just such a jabot in limewood, usually called ‘a cravat’ [i] , in imitation of Venetian needle-point lace.
