George Grosz - born as George Ehrenfried Grosz in Berlin in 1893 - grew up in the Pomeranian town of Stolp. Which he portrayed in architectural studies as early as 1907-08. His drawing teacher recognised George Grosz' talent and prepared his pupil for the entrance exam at the "Königliche Kunstakademie" in Dresden.

14 de may. de 2022 · 1951 reiste Grosz das erste Mal seit seiner Emigration nach Deutschland. 1958 wurde er zum außerordentlichen Mitglied der Berliner Akademie der Künste gewählt. Auf Drängen seiner Frau Eva kehrte das Paar 1959 nach Berlin zurück. Kurz nach ihrer Rückkehr starb George Grosz mit 65 Jahren am 6. Juli 1959 nach einem Treppensturz.
