Jane Darwell was an American actress of stage, film, and television. She began her career in vaudeville and on the stage in the early 1900s. She appeared in over 300 films between 1914 and 1967, often playing kindly, grandmotherly characters. She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Grapes of Wrath (1940).
