That Nathan Mayer Rothschild (1777–1836) was the first person in London to know of Wellington’s victory at Waterloo in 1815 has been asserted so often it is widely accepted as a historical fact.
Nathan Mayer Rothschild was born in Frankfurt on September 16, 1777, into a wealthy Jewish banking family. At the age of 21, he decided to leave his family and their vast fortune in Frankfurt, and moved to England. In 1798 he moved to Manchester and started getting involved in the textile industry.
22 de may. de 2023 · Nathan Mayer Rothschild's mother was Gutle Schanpper (1753 to 1749). Gutle was the daughter of a Frankfurt financier. When Gutle married Mayer Rothschild in 1770, she brought a hefty dowry.

Nathan Mayer Rothschild appears to have settled in Manchester from about 1799 where he lived in at least two houses. He is known to have been living in Downing Street, Ardwick Green to the east of the city in an elegant neighbourhood mainly occupied by merchants near the main route to London. At this time his warehouse was probably in Brown Street.
