Con ellos, Louis Armstrong se presentó el 13 de agosto de 1947 en el club “Billy Berg’s”, de Los Ángeles, California, y en esa nueva etapa se desenvolvió hasta el final de sus días. Poco antes de morir, en 1971, Armstrong lamentaba la falta de reconocimiento, pues consideraba que siempre había hecho grandes cosas para elevar “a la raza, pero no siempre se entendieron".
