Après 20 ans de collaborations diverses entre Chicago et le Brésil autour des scènes hip hop, jazz et avant-gardistes, Ben LaMar Gay apparait enfin sous son nom en 2018. Son premier opus Downtown Castles Can Never Black The Sun offre alors une sélection de morceaux issus de sept (!) albums jamais commercialisés.
