  1. Niall Diarmid Campbell, 10th and 3rd Duke of Argyll (16 February 1872 – 20 August 1949) [1] was a Scottish peer and historian, the 10th Duke of Argyll and 25th Chief of Clan Campbell.

  2. The 10th Duke Niall Diarmid Campbell was appointed HM Lord Lieutenant of Argyllshire in 1923, an office he held until his death in 1949. The 10th Duke was one of a long line of Campbells to hold the position of Lord Lieutenant of Argyllshire and later Lord Lieutenant of Argyll and Bute.
