Ponsonby, Frederick George Brabazon (1815–95), 6th earl of Bessborough , landowner and politician, was born in London on 11 September 1815, the second son of John William Ponsonby (qv), 4th earl of Bessborough, lord lieutenant of Ireland (1846–7), and Lady Maria Fane, third daughter of John Fane, 10th earl of Westmorland (qv).

  2. This weakness was never apparent in parliament for the simple reason that he never spoke. Nevertheless his family connections established him as an influential, though never important, political figure in Britain and Ireland. He was succeeded by his son Frederick Ponsonby (1758–1844) as 3rd earl of Bessborough.

  5. Frederick Ponsonby, 3rd Earl of Bessborough (24 January 1758 – 3 February 1844) was a British peer. Ponsonby was the eldest son of the 2nd Earl of Bessborough and succeeded to his father's titles in 1793.
