Samuel Hood, 1º Visconde Hood (Butleigh, 12 de dezembro de 1724 – Londres, 27 de janeiro de 1816) foi um oficial naval britânico que serviu na Marinha Real por mais de cinco décadas, alcançou a patente de almirante e lutou na Guerra dos Sete Anos, Guerra de Independência dos Estados Unidos e Guerras Revolucionárias Francesas.

HOOD, SAMUEL HOOD, Viscount (1724–1816), British admiral, was the son of Samuel Hood, vicar of Butleigh in Somerset, and prebendary of Wells. He was born on the 12th of December 1724, and entered the navy on the 6th of May 1741. He served part of his time as midshipman with Rodney in the “Ludlow,” and became lieutenant in 1746.

Given a commission in 1746, Hood served throughout the Seven Years War and was present at Quiberon Bay in 1759. In 1767, still a captain, he was appointed commander‐in‐chief in North America; subsequently from 1771 to 1780 he was stationed at Portsmouth.
