Most fantasy-comedy includes an element of parody, or satire, turning many of the fantasy conventions over. There are also films about ghosts or angels who either become someone's guardians and helpers, or who torment someone comedically from the other side.

A sitcom (a shortening of situation comedy, or situational comedy) is a genre of comedy centred on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience.

Parody film. A parody film or spoof film is a subgenre of comedy film that lampoons other film genres or films as pastiches, [1] [2] [3] works created by imitation of the style of many different films reassembled together. Although the subgenre is often overlooked by critics, parody films are commonly profitable at the box office. [4]
Alan Williams distinguishes three main genre categories: narrative, avant-garde, and documentary. [7] With the proliferation of particular genres, film subgenres can also emerge: the legal drama, for example, is a sub-genre of drama that includes courtroom- and trial-focused films.
