Robert Schumann. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Robert Schumann [1] ( German: [ˈʃuːman]; 8 June 1810 – 29 July 1856) was a German composer and an influential music critic. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. Schumann left the study of law, intending to pursue a career as a virtuoso pianist.

Schumann was a pianist himself and wrote over fifty works for the piano, numbering hundreds of constituent pieces and movements.
Between 1838 and 1841 Schumann edited quarterly collection Sammlung von Musikstücken alter und neuer Zeit als Zulage zur Neuen Zeitschrift für Musik in 16 volumes containing 72 short compositions (26 Pianopieces, 25 Lieder, 18 choir pieces). 10 pieces are composed by himself, 62 from other composers.
The Three Romances for Oboe and Piano, Op. 94 ( German: Drei Romanzen) is a composition by Robert Schumann, his only composition for oboe. [1] It was composed in December 1849. The work consists of three short pieces in A-B-A form, and it was written during what was speculated to be one of Schumann's manic episodes .

He is one of the most famous Romantic composers of the 19th century. He had hoped to pursue a career as a virtuoso pianist, having been assured by his teacher Friedrich Wieck that he could become the finest pianist in Europe after only a few years of study with him.
