Kern admits to sexually abusing children during his 30+ year career as a priest in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and documents show how officials failed to prevent Kern from abusing more children despite reports of inappropriate behavior with children dating back to 1969.
Kern was supposed to never to work in another parish, but he was an active parish priest until 2002 when he took medical disability leave. Sued in 11/13. In a 4/14 deposition, Kern denied that his actions constituted abuse but that it consisted of nonsexual horseplay, hugging and wrestling.
