Soon after contract award in late 1997, Serco withdrew from the consortium and the company was eventually re-named FB Heliservices. The original contract covers provision of aircraft and services at the Defence Helicopter Flying School sites at RAF Shawbury (HQ), RAF Valley (SAR training) and AAC Middle Wallop (advanced Army Air Corps training).
This phase consists of 40 flying hours of elementary fixed- wing flying training over 14 weeks on the Slingsby Firefly (260). 19 de abr. de 2024 · The new helicopters will be delivered next year and will serve in parallel with 29 H135s and seven H145s in the Defence Helicopter Flying School which trains all UK military pilots as part of MFTS at RAF Shawbury. The enlarged H145 fleet brings economies of support costs and substantially reduces pilot conversion training time.
