Fue pintado en el primer cuarto del siglo XVII. El cuadro se conserva en el Museo del Prado de Madrid ( España ). 1 2 .
Retrato de don Carlos (1545-1568), príncipe de Austria, heredero al trono español, hijo de Felipe II (1556-1598) y de su primera esposa y prima Manuela de Portugal (1528-1545). Esta obra idealiza el rostro y cuerpo del Príncipe, quien en realidad nació con graves discapacidades físicas y psicológicas producto, probablemente, de la consanguineidad de sus padres.

Su padre, Felipe II, se llenó de alegría cuando ella nació y dijo que él era más feliz que si hubiera sido un chico, porque Felipe tenía ya un heredero masculino, Don Carlos, de su primer matrimonio con la princesa María de Portugal.
17 de may. de 2024 · Isabel Clara Eugenia fue la primera hija del matrimonio de Felipe II con Isabel de Valois. Nació en el Palacio de Valsaín en agosto de 1566, la pareja tuvo otro hija, Catalina Micaela, nacida al año siguiente. Ambas hermanas se quedaron huérfanas de madre cuando, en 1568, falleció al dar a luz a su tercer hijo.
