Fairbanks Jr’s most important early role was opposite Katherine Hepburn in Morning Glory (1933), for which his co-star won her first Oscar as best actress. It was a 1929 silent film however, Our Modern Maidens , that changed his life, as it was on this set that his beautiful co-star – Joan Crawford – fell passionately in love with the dashing young Fairbanks; Fairbanks was no less smitten.
