2 de jul. de 2021 · Even though The Philadelphia Story is one of the best-known examples of the “ comedy of remarriage ” subgenre, popular in the 1930s and ‘40s, I was still delighted with how the film kept me guessing as to who Tracy would end up with by the film’s finale. Unlike a more subtle retelling, a remake matches its subject–sometimes line for line and scene for scene. In many ways, remakes have more riding on them than an original film.
