He was one of only three actors (the others being Kenneth Williams and Kenneth Connor) to appear in both the first of the original series of Carry On films, Carry On Sergeant (1958), and the last, Carry On Emmannuelle (1978). Barker's other Carry On appearance was in Carry On Spying (1964).
24 de feb. de 2016 · Kenneth very clearly admired the acting talents of Kenneth Connor. Both actors spanned the entire duration of the Carry Ons, with Connor taking a break only for a few years in the late 1960s. While they did not appear to socialise a great deal together away from Pinewood, Kenneth W clearly loved Connor's company and really respected his skill as a comedy actor.
In the BBC Four television play Kenneth Williams: Fantabulosa! (2006), Hawtrey was played by David Charles. He is also the subject of a one-man biographical stage play, Oh, Hello!, by Dave Ainsworth, premiered in 2001 at The Torch Theatre, which was revived in 2014/2015 for the actor's centenary, with Jamie Rees in the role.

The son of a naval officer who ran what were called "concert parties", Kenneth Connor made his stage debut at age two, and by 11 was performing in both a solo act and a doubles act with his brother in various revue shows.
