Sigvard Bernadotte har främst verkat som silversmed hos Georg Jensen men också som keramiker, textilkonstnär och industriell formgivare.
Sigvard Bernadotte was a Swedish prince who gained international recognition as both a designer and illustrator. He was born in 1907 at Drottningholm Palace as the son of then Crown Prince Gustaf VI Adolf and Princess Margaret of Great Britain. Sigvard Bernadotte became the first in the Bernadotte family to obtain an academic degree.
The younger branch divided in two, one branch descending from the king's older brother John (Jean Évangéliste) Bernadotte (1754–1813), the heads of which were French barons as of 1810 with Louvie Palace in the south of Pau as their seat (branch extinct with the death of Baron Henri Bernadotte in 1966), and the other branch being the Swedish Royal House.
Prince Sigvard Bernadotte (1907-2002) was trained at the Kungliga Konstakademien in Stockholm in 1929. The following year he saw the Stockholm exhibition of Gunnar Asplund, which marked the breakthrough of functionalism. This influenced Bernadotte’s own style and he incorporated the ideals of functional elegance into his design thenceforth.
Sigvard Oscar Fredrik Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg (1907-2002) was a Swedish industrial designer.
