Gustaf V (Oscar Gustaf Adolf; 16 June 1858 – 29 October 1950) was King of Sweden from 8 December 1907 until his death in 1950. He was the eldest son of King Oscar II of Sweden and Sophia of Nassau , a half-sister of Adolphe, Grand Duke of Luxembourg .

Gustav V (born June 16, 1858, Stockholm, Swed.—died Oct. 29, 1950, Stockholm) was the king of Sweden from 1907 to 1950. The eldest son of King Oscar II and Sophie of Nassau, he was created duke of Värmland and from 1872 acted as crown prince.
Gustaf V (fullständigt namn Oscar Gustaf Adolf), född 16 juni 1858 på Drottningholms slott i Lovö socken i Stockholms län, död 29 oktober 1950 på Drottningholms slott, var kung av Sverige från 1907, som den femte regenten av huset Bernadotte.
With a reign of almost 43 years, he was the second-longest reigning monarch in the history of Sweden (after Magnus Eriksson) and also the oldest ever. He was also the first Swedish king to refrain from being crowned, which had been the custom in Sweden since the 13th century. Gustaf V was the last monarch to exercise any political influence.
Med en regeringstid på nästan 43 år blev Gustaf V den näst längst regerande monarken i Sveriges historia (efter Magnus Eriksson) och dessutom den äldste någonsin. Han var också den förste svenske kung som avstod från att låta sig krönas, något som annars hade varit bruk i Sverige sedan 1200-talet.
