In 1715–16 the parish spent £1 1 s. on poor relief, of which £1 was given in doles to one man. Expenditure increased gradually: it was £6 in 1728–9, £15 in 1758–9, and £31 in 1768–9.

  5. 27 de may. de 2024 · In 1858 Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, 3rd Marquess of Lansdowne, one of Petty's descendants, erected a memorial and likeness of Petty in Romsey Abbey. The text on it reads: "A true patriot and a sound philosopher who, by his powerful intellect, his scientific works and indefatigable industry, became a benefactor to his family and an ornament to his country".

Hace 3 días · Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, marquess of Lansdowne (d. 1863), bequeathed £1,000 to the school; £200 was spent on repairs to the building, and in 1868 or 1869 the rest was used to buy the building or invested. In 1868 the school was attended by 16 girls, each of whom stayed for a year. It was closed in 1883.
