20 de may. de 2024 · The Temple of the Sun, a Gothic folly in Kew Gardens designed by William Chambers in 1761, was destroyed when a nearby cedar tree fell on it in a storm in 1916. Strangely, Chambers had also planted the cedar earlier, in 1725. [261] The Crystal Palace in London was destroyed by fire on 30 November 1936.

Sites are listed under broad areas or quarters under which they are located. Some streets/roads are found in two areas. Sites located on them are found under their respective area.

Challenges remain, however, in ensuring the world’s most precious places continue to be preserved.
