25 de jun. de 2024 · Edward Montagu of Hemington, afterwards 1st Baron Montagu of Boughton, granted the College in 1599 a lease for 1,000 years of 45 acres at Burwash (Suss.) for founding three exhibitions, two of them for candidates from Oundle School, and one to a native of Sussex.
15 de jun. de 2024 · Edward Montagu, 2nd Earl of Sandwich (1647 or 1648-circa 1688), Politician; MP for Dover at the National Portrait Gallery, London. 1647/48-1688. Son of the 1st Earl of Mountagu, Pepys' patron. MP for Dover from 1670-1672 and then Earl of Sandwich.
Hace 4 días · Their son, Sir Gilbert Pickering, was created a baronet in 1638, and married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Sidney Montagu. He was an ardent Parliamentarian and chamberlain to both protectors. He was one of the regicide judges, but did not sign the death warrant of Charles I, and obtained a pardon after the Restoration.
24 de jun. de 2024 · In 1609 Edward and Thomas Dudley conveyed lands to Sir Sidney Montagu, who was presumably a trustee for his brother Henry. At his death in 1642 Henry, Earl of Manchester, bequeathed to his son Walter 500 marks a year rent-charge on Keyston Manor.
