At his death Crichton and Sir Alexander Livingston fought to overthrow the power of the Black Douglas family. In 1440 they invited the 16-year-old William Douglas, 6th Earl of Douglas and his brother to dinner in Edinburgh Castle, and murdered them, despite the young King's pleas for their lives.

She married Archibald Douglas, 4th Earl of Douglas before 1390. Their union transcended mere marriage; it was a fusion of power and purpose.

Lyon king-at-arms (Sir William Comyn) was despatched to summon Angus before the council, when Drummond, thinking that he had approached the earl with more boldness than respect, struck him on the breast.
