According to a testimony from Joe Valachi, Vito Genovese was said to have been behind the hit, after Strollo switched sides in an attempt to set Genovese up with a drug trafficking conviction back in 1959.

On this day in 1925 Samuzzo Amatuna, an ally of the “ Bloody Gennas ”, was gunned down after sitting down in a barber shop chair in Cicero. The gunmen allegedly consisted of by North Side Gang members Jim Doherty and Vincent Drucci.

Maranzano wanted to unify the New York mafia under his control, and he saw Masseria as a threat. On April 15, 1931, Masseria was murdered in a restaurant in Coney Island. He was shot four times in the back and once in the head.
