A 1955 Hitchcock movie that has a twin peaks vibe. Give it a watch, very fun. Coming in to OP very unfairly downvoted. This movie is incredibly cozy-the color palette is outrageous. Tonally it is a dark comedy-not super like Twin Peaks, but I can see why one would want to recommend it to any fan. Pretty corny but sweet romcom elements, too.

Up there with his McGuffin, I would agree with what you say about his women in the film being Strong and Independent. The man was obsessed with sex which had an affect on the roles I believe the women in his film to have.
