Hedwig of Hesse-Kassel (30 June 1569 – 7 July 1644), married on 11 September 1597 to Ernst of Schaumburg; Agnes of Hesse-Kassel (30 June 1569 – 5 September 1569) Sofie of Hesse-Kassel (10 June 1571 – 18 January 1616) Maurice, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel (25 May 1572 – 15 March 1632), succeeded as landgrave on William IV's death in 1592.
He married Princess Hedwig Sophie of Brandenburg Hohenzollern Landgravine of Hesse-Kassel on 2 July 1649, in Cöln, Berlin, Germany. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 16 July 1663, in Haina, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Hesse, Germany, at the age of 34, and was buried in Kassel, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia, Germany.
Hedwig was born about 1140 as a daughter of the Ballenstedt count Albert the Bear, first Margrave of Brandenburg from 1157, and his wife Countess Sophie of Winzenburg.
