  2. The Dorsey Brothers recorded songs for the dime store labels (Banner, Cameo, Domino, Jewel, Oriole, Perfect). A handful of sides during their Brunswick period were issued by Vocalion . They signed to Decca in 1934, formed a touring band, with Tommy as front man, and a rather unusual lineup of one trumpet, three trombones, three saxes and four rhythm.

  4. 18 de nov. de 2020 · In 1953, Jimmy’s band fell apart and the brothers were reconciled. Jimmy joined Tommy’s orchestra and they performed as The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra featuring Jimmy Dorsey. The brothers performed together for the next three years, and from 1955-’56, the brothers enjoyed wide national coverage with their own show on CBS called Stage Show.

Tommy Dorsey is the man who gave a young Frank Sinatra’s burgeoning career a major boost. Thomas Francis Dorsey Jr. was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, in 1905. He was the younger brother of Jimmy Dorsey, who was born in Shenandoah the previous year.
