  5. Strindberg tries the same techniques, and I suppose I would have gotten a bit more of the satire if I'd lived in 19th Century Sweden. Yeah, this books didn't do anything for me. I haven't read/seen any of Strindberg's plays, so I can't make comparisons. But the Red Room, supposedly Sweden's first modern novel, bored me to tears.
